In my walk with God, I am reminded in 1 Kings 19:11-13 That God usually speaks to us through a whisper which is a still small voice. If we are not taking time away with our God alone, we will not be able to hear His whispers to us as to which way we should go next. 1 Kings 12:11-13 The Lord said "Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by." Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper. When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave. Then a voice said to him, "What are you doing here, Elijah": We tend to look for God to speak to us through all our distractions in life, yet God is just wanting us to come away to a quiet place so he can whisper in our ear. Are we willing to take that time alone, so we can hear what He is wanting to say to us? In Oswald Chambers devotional, He reminds us that our Private time with God, determines our public worth. I have found this to be an incredibly true statement. |
